THE newly upgraded Ellington Wharf in Rakiraki was opened yesterday.

Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport Minister, Ro Filipe Tuisawau was the chief guest at the opening ceremony.

According to Fiji Roads Authority (FRA), the new upgrade is a significant milestone in improving inter-island connectivity for community in Ra and beyond.

The authority highlighted that the reopening of the wharf reflected Government’s commitment to investing in critical transport infrastructure that enhances mobility, support trade and improve access for all.

FRA said the wharf played a crucial role by linking families, facilitating passenger movements and enabling efficient transportation of goods.

Ro Filipe during his speech said the upgraded facility represents more than just a physical improvement.

“The reopening of Ellington Wharf underscores our broader vision to create reliable, safe, and efficient transport links across Fiji,” he said.
