Critical surveys of Fiji’s waters have been done by the Fiji Hydrographic Service’s Deployable Geospatial Team.
The team according to the Republic of Fiji Navy (RFN) have been working hard in the past few months conducting surveys both in national waters and within important gateways to Fiji.
The Fiji Navy highlighted that the surveys play a vital role in ensuring the safety of navigation, supporting maritime trade and keeping Fiji’s busy ports and waterways secure and efficient.
The effort, according to the Fiji Navy not only strengthens Fiji’s maritime infrastructure, but also contributes to its obligations under international conventions, while supporting the wider Pacific community with reliable hydrographic data.
RFN said Suva Harbour remains a focal point for Fiji’s economy and security, and the work of its hydrographic specialists is key in keeping these waters safe for everyone.
