Fiji Ports Corporation Limited chief operating officer, Upali De Zoysa, delivered a presentation on “Strengthening Fiji’s Border and Port Management – Enhancing Collaboration for Secure & Efficient Trade” last week.

This was during the Inter-Agency Border Partnership Meeting held at the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service office in Nadi on October 22, 2025.

The objective of the meeting was to foster closer coordination between all border agencies, to openly discuss current operational challenges on the ground and to identify practical solutions that will benefit Fiji as a whole.

Discussions evolved around;

n Strengthening inter-agency communication and intelligence sharing;

n Addressing emerging challenges relating to illicit goods, people movement and cross border threats;

n Enhancing operational efficiency at ports, airports and maritime borders;

n Aligning inter-agency efforts with Fiji’s national security priorities and goals;

n Exploring opportunities for joint training, resource sharing and technological innovation; and

n Building a unified border management framework that balances facilitation of trade and travel with the highest standards of security and compliance.
