There will be 61 ship visits to the country’s two main ports of entry in Suva and Lautoka this month.

This has been confirmed by the Fiji Ports Terminal Limited’s monthly vessel schedule for December.

The Ports of Suva is expected to receive 35 visits while the Port of Lautoka will receive 25 berths.

For the Port of Suva, the month of December will see 27 visits from container ships, three oil tankers, two cruise liners, 2 car carriers and 2 naval vessels.

Lautoka will receive 22 container ships, one cable ship and 2 cruise liners.

The two cruise liner visits for Suva and Lautoka will be by MS Riveria and MS Regatta.

MS Riviera will visit Lautoka on Tuesday, December 16 before sailing to the capital on Wednesday, December 17.

According to Wikipedia, MS Riviera is an Oceania-class cruise ship (of 15 decks) which entered service with Oceania Cruises in May 2012. She is the sister ship of MS Marina.

Riviera has tonnage of 66,084 gross tons, with a capacity of 1250 passengers housed in 625 staterooms.

On the other hand, MS Regatta is an R-class cruise ship, owned and operated by Oceania Cruises where she is part of their Regatta class.

Two Japanese vessels, Yushin Maru 2 and Yushim Maru 3 are expected in Suva on Friday, December 19.

CS Reliance, a 140m long cable laying ship is expected in Lautoka on December 25.

Meanwhile, Villa VIE ODYSSEY was the last cruise vessel to visit Fiji in November. She was berthed in Suva last Friday and in Lautoka in the weekend.

Villa Vie Odyssey is a cruise ship operated by Villa Vie Residences for its three and a half-year, residence style cruise concept. This means that its itinerary evolves every 3.5 years, giving travellers the chance to ‘revisit beloved places and uncover fresh experiences’ ensuring each journey feels new and inspiring.

Since its construction in 1993, the ship has been variously known as: Braemar, Crown Dynasty, Cunard Crown Dynasty, Crown Majesty, and Norwegian Dynasty.

The ship is 195.82 metres long and 22.52m wide, has a tonnage of 22,344 and has eight decks.

The country’s two main ports in Suva and Lautoka recorded a total of 70 ship visits in the month of November.

The Port of Suva had about 40 ship visits last month. Of this number, there were 27 container ships, three oil tankers, three car carriers, two naval vessels and one each cable and cargo ships.

In November, the Port of Lautoka’s ship visits included four cruise liners, one bulk wheat vessel, two oil tankers and 25 container ships.

No naval ship visited Lautoka in November.
