SHERATON won the ladies title during the Picket Cup competition at the Lautoka Bowling Club yesterday.
Sheraton with Sheral Mar and Loretta Kotoisuva recorded four wins and a loss in the round robin event.
The side’s only loss was against Tamavua which had Varisila Vosalotaki and Sarote Hiagi. Vatukoula claimed the runner-up position following a playoff against Rewa.
Both teams recorded three wins and two losses. Vatukoula edged Rewa 4-2 in a three end playoff.
Labasa, with Rick Eyre and Jona Koroitamana, won the men’s title.
The side defeated Rewa in a playoff. Both Rewa and Labasa were tied with 11 points after the round robin stage. Labasa won the playoffs 2-1.
Rewa had the services of Samuela Tui and Esaroma Taubale
Tournament controller Sanjit Sen said the ladies participated for the first time. Sen said it was a close finish in the men’s division.
“The Nadi Sports & Social Club greens are under maintenance for the upcoming Sunny West Carnival so the Picket Cup was staged in Lautoka,” he said.
