SUVA Grammar School (SGS) senior boys sprinter Paula Vonolagi has now set his sights on the upcoming Oceania Athletics Championships in Darwin, Australia, from May 18-23 2026 after winning the Coca Cola Games senior boys 100m and 200m recently.

Vonolagi confirmed this on Saturday after his remarkable victory in the senior boys 200m final.

“My plans after the Coca-Cola Games are to just go home, rest well and prepare for the upcoming Oceania Games,” he said.

Winning both the senior boys’ blue ribbon and the 200m, the sprinter from Navuniivi, Navitilevu in Ra will be one of Fiji’s top athletes at the competition.

Although he clocked 10.78 seconds at the Fiji Finals to win the senior boys 100m final, his fastest time this year was at the Coca-Cola Games Suva Zone Two 100m final, where he recorded an impressive 10.57 seconds.

In his last Fiji Finals competition, he acknowledged the strong challenge issued by Jone Raibevu of Queen Victoria School, whose competition brought out the best in the SGS sprinter.

“I’d like to thank John Raibevu for brining the competition. I wasn’t expecting it from him, but from the MGM boy,” he said.

Vonolagi is grateful for the challenge posed by his QVS opponent, as it was excellent preparation for the Oceania Athletics Championships, and he wished his opponent and team well.

“Just a message to the QVS boys and John Raibevu, thank you very much for the bringing the competition. I’m so happy that you won the 4x100m relay on Friday,” he said.
