A seventh person has been charged in relation to the death of Richard Mock and was produced before the Nadi Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) confirmed that Fenton Thaggard, a police officer, has been charged with one count of manslaughter.
It is alleged that between January 16 and 17, 2025, Thaggard, together with another person, unlawfully assaulted Mr Mock, resulting in his death.
The State has applied for the matter to be transferred to the Lautoka High Court, where it is expected to be heard jointly with cases involving six other police officers facing charges linked to the same incident.
The case has been adjourned and will be called at the Lautoka High Court on April 13, 2026.
