VODAFONE Fiji 7s duo Samisoni Viriviri and Savenaca Rawaca’s inclusion in the Flying Fijians’ squad will not affect their roles for the Olympic Games in Rio.
National 15s head coach John McKee said Viriviri and Rawaca would be an asset for national duties.
“They are very good players and Viriviri was in the PNC squad last year. Although he did not get any game time, it was a good experience for him to be with the squad,” McKee said.
Rawaca’s try scoring and defending abilities have attracted McKee’s attention.
“I think Rawaca is a very talented player and he could make an impact in 15s directly.
“With these two, we have got depth and there would be competition for the spots which is a good thing as at the end of the day we want to pick the best possible team to go to the World Cup,” he said.
He also said the duo’s transition to 15s would not have any impact on their 7s career.
“The fitness profile is a bit different with the type of training in 7s to what we do in 15s,” McKee said.
