Opposition Leader Inia Seruiratu says Parliament members must rise to the challenge set by the President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, who highlighted the need for responsible leadership and inclusive governance.
Commenting on the President’s call to leaders, Mr Seruiratu said the issues highlighted by the Rati Naiqama were essential to building a better Fiji.
“It’s the challenge that he posed on the leadership, and the responsibility that comes with it,” Mr Seruiratu said.
“We want to build a better Fiji, Fiji that is sensitive to the multi-racialism and multi-religious communities that we have.
“But that does not take away our responsibility to serve them equally.”
He added that the new parliamentary calendar would focus on dialogue, debate and wisdom, ensuring laws and policies contribute to the common good.
“I think what is important is dialogue and wisdom in all these, so that we all look forward to the common good, which is to build a better Fiji for everybody.”
