THE Senikakala Amazons clinched the Women’s division title at the 2025 Flame Tree Waimanu Sevens with a commanding 26-7 victory over Navy at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva last Saturday.

Senikakala captain Ruth Raketekete acknowledged the tough competition but credited faith and determination for their success.

“Firstly, I want to thank the Lord for this opportunity and the talent He has given us. Without Him, we wouldn’t have won today,” she said.

“It was really tough from day one, but I thank the girls for giving it their all and pulling through.”

Despite the wide score margin, Raketekete emphasized the final was hard-fought, with Navy making them work for every point.

“When we came onto the field, we were determined to win this competition. The girls showed their love for rugby, which helped us prevail against a determined Navy side,” she explained.

The win was especially meaningful as it avenged their earlier pool game loss to Navy. Raketekete also earned player of the final, dedicating the award to her teammates.

“This award is for my teammates. They keep pushing me to do my best, without them, I wouldn’t have won this award.”

In other finals, Bureta Young Boys secured the U20 Cup by defeating Shogun Fiji Highlanders Red 22-5, while the Bula Brothers Newcastle won the Senior Plate final, beating Marist Rugby 19-10.
