Semis duel

THE contenders list for the 2016 Deans Trophy holders have narrowed down to the survivors from yesterday’s quarter-finals at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

The race to the main title, the under-18, has two Tailevu and two Suva schools — Marist Brothers High School (MBHS) which will face Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) and Nasinu Secondary School (NSS) against the most talked about Queen Victoria School (QVS).

The semi-finals will be at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka and the event is anticipated to be a sellout after yesterday’s success.

In the U14, Ratu Sukuna Memorial School faces MBHS and QVS against Suva Grammar School.

The U15 will feature a clash between QVS and MBHS while RKS meets Lelean Memorial School.

In the U16, LMS plays RKS while QVS meets Natabua High School.

The U17 grade will have Lelean playing Lautoka-based Natabua High School and QVS against St John’s College Cawaci from Ovalau — the furthest traveling school in the competition this year.

Members of the public will witness the match between Ratu Navula and RKS and QVS against LMS in the U19 grade.

Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union secretary Biu Colati said the support from spectators had been overwhelming

“I think the teams that came through are mostly the teams that most people were anticipating to see,” Colati said.
