A 5.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Lau waters earlier today.
The Seismology Unit of the Mineral Resources department stated the earthquake occurred at 9.04am.
The seismic activity was recorded 147km Northeast from Tubou, Lakeba, 265km South-southeast from Alofi, Niue, and 462km East-northeast from Suva.
According to the unit, the moderate earthquake occurred at a deep depth of 392km.
