Second major drug bust | Police seize 1.1 tonnes of meth

The Fiji Police Force carried out another successful drug raid in Nadi on Saturday and seized about 1.1 tonnes of white substances in crystal and powder.

A 37-year-old Nadi businessman is in custody in relation to discovery at Maqalevu, Nadi.

“Preliminary test has confirmed that the white substances was methamphetamine,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police Mesake Waqa.

“The drugs seized were stored in four large containers, 138 medium containers, 127 small containers and 62 kava bags (500g packets).

“The Fiji Police Force acknowledges the support of its stakeholders that had assisted in the raid.”

Mr Waqa said this was the second major drug bust within a week and investigation is underway to find all those responsible.

“The investigation is in its initial stage and we are pleading to members of the community to assist us with any information in regard to the above find.”
