The boxing fraternity is mourning the loss of Ubayd Haider, who passed away at Lautoka Hospital on Sunday night.

Haider, known for his dedication in the ring and his gentle nature outside it, leaves behind a legacy that extends far beyond his athletic achievements.

His brother, Sebastian Singh, a fellow boxer, shared an emotional tribute to the man who was more than just a sibling, he was a beloved son and father.

“Life is never going to be the same without him, no matter how much we try,” Singh said, his voice filled with grief.

“But like I said, God’s plan is final, and I thank God for everything.”

In his statement, Sebastian reflected on the personal side of his brother, who was, in his eyes, “just a special little boy who loves to be loved and adored.”

He described Ubayd as the baby of the house, cherished and treasured by all who knew him.

Despite the deep sorrow, Singh remains focused on honouring his brother’s memory.

“He’s got kids, he’s got a family,” he said.

“I have to make sure that my brother’s kids get the best education and the best in everything in their life.”

Haider’s passing marks the end of a chapter for his family and the boxing community.

As they grieve, Sebastian’s words resonate: a promise to carry forward his brother’s legacy and ensure his children’s future is as bright as the love Haider shared with them.
