FIJI Water Flying Fijians captain Tevita Ikanivere is confident his team is prepared and eagerly anticipates taking the field against the Scotland Rugby team in their Test match today.

The team is eager to bounce back from last week’s defeat against the Wallabies, where they lost 18-21 in their first Test of 2025.

Following the captain’s run yesterday, Ikanivere expressed his excitement for the upcoming match, highlighting the competitive nature of international rugby.

“It’s an international match, we expect the same every time, the best from their nation and the best from our nation and we are looking forward to battling out with Scotland tomorrow (today),” said Ikanivere.

He emphasised the team’s commitment to delivering quality performance, particularly focusing on improving their set pieces to provide their backline with the opportunity to excel.

“After the match against the Wallabies, we focused on our mistakes and working on our set pieces as a forward pack, making sure we deliver quality ball to our backline to get us forward.

“All teams like to play on the front foot, just looking forward to coming out and doing our best.”

In response to Scotland’s claim of having a world-class backline, Ikanivere confidently stated that Fiji also boasts exceptional players in the backline.

He acknowledged Scotland’s talent while expressing his team’s determination to let their performance do the talking on the field.

“We all can see our backline are also world class players, all the best to the Scotland team and we will be doing more talking on the field.”

He adds playing an international match at home holds a special significance for the team, as it is a rare opportunity to showcase their skills in front of their families, friends, and the nation of Fiji.

Ikanivere called upon the people of Fiji to show their support by attending the match and cheering on their national team, promising to give their all to make the nation proud.

The Flying Fijians take on Scotland at 3pm today, at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
