The Fiji Secondary School Rugby Union will present an official apology to the under-18 Ratu Kadavulevu School team and management.

This is after it was wrongfully announced on Saturday that RKS had won the Vodafone Super Deans quarter-final match against Cuvu College.

The team celebrated and were on their way off the ground when Cuvu College erupted in celebration as the officials overturned the results after it was found that the scorekeepers had made a blunder of the final scores.

The scorekeeper recorded five points for a penalty try awarded to Cuvu when it was supposed to be a seven straight points.

“There will be an apology to the RKS management about what has happened,” FSSRU vice-president Savenaca Muamua stated.

There was also word on the ground on Saturday that RKS kicked the ball out after they were informed by an official that they were leading.

“If we found that to be true than the official will no longer take part in the Deans competition.

“We are running a full enquiry on that. It was the first time that this has happened so we will do a full enquiry on the issue so that it doesn’t happen again,” added Muamua.

Officials were also reminded that on game day, they operate under the banner of the FSSRU and not their respective schools.

“It’s the first of this kind of blunder to happen. We have told the officials that when they are under the FSSRU they are no longer representing their schools, so they must be neutral and fair.

“Just yesterday, we have drawn up a new officials list which will be endorsed because teachers are involved. The pressure of the game too can get to them, but it’s not an excuse.”

Muamua affirmed that incidents of such will not happen in the semi-finals and finals of the Deans.

The semi-finals and finals will be at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
