FOR the first time Ghandi Bhawan Primary School and Lautoka Special School for Education (LSSE) got together on Friday to celebrate Holi.
School head Kailash Pillay said they were excited by the historical collaboration between a mainstream school and a special school.
“Since I’ve been here for the past eight years, I haven’t seen any mainstream school coming here,” Mr Pillay said.
“So today we are indeed privileged and happy that a mainstream school has really thought about a special school, bringing their students and their singing talents.”
Ghandi Bhawan Primary School head Nilesh Sharma said they were privileged to take part in the Holi celebration at LSSE.
“We have 620 students and 26 staff,” Mr Sharma said.
“And our children had the vision that they wanted to come and perform.
“The parents, school management and the Ministry of Education supported us.
“We wanted to create a pathway when students complete their studies from LSSE. We welcome them and we want our students to understand that inclusiveness and diversity are important.”
