All schools will remain closed today except for the schools on the island of Rotuma.
Permanent Secretary for Education, Selina Kuruleca clarified this in a statement on the ministry’s Facebook page saying, NDMO’s advice is that the torrential rain band will continue, thus, schools remain closed for another day.
“This adverse weather has impacted public roads and transportation as rivers is expected to be flooded again,” Ms Kuruleca said.
“The risk of further landslips and landslides is also an area of grave concern,” she said.
Ms. Kuruleca emphasises the importance for all heads of schools to strategise on ways to make up for lost teaching and learning time once schools reopen.
‘Parents and guardians must remain vigilant and ensure that children remain indoors.”
