Schools across the Northern Division will remain closed tomorrow to allow families more time to clean up after severe rain and flash flooding, Education Minister Aseri Radrodro has said.

“We want to ensure students return only when it is safe,” Mr Radrodro said, adding that schools are expected to reopen on Friday, subject to favourable weather.

Heads of schools in the North have also been reminded to monitor conditions closely and follow School Operating Procedures if weather worsens.

Schools on Viti Levu will remain open, but parents are urged to use discretion.

“Safety must come first,” Mr Radrodro said, advising school leaders to keep the ministry informed of any concerns.

The Education Ministry is working closely with NDMO and divisional emergency teams and will issue further updates as conditions evolve.
