Schools closure across the country on Wednesday, March 20

The Permanent Secretary for Education in consultation with NDMO is advising that all schools across Fiji will be closed on Wednesday March 20, 2024.

According to a Fiji Government Facebook post, the closure is due to the heavy continuous rainfall across the country, landslides in some areas, inaccessible roads leading to some of our schools, disrupted water, public transport, electrical services and blocked drains.

“Schools are also being activated for EC and the Fiji Police are closely monitoring the situation,” the post reads.

“The predicted heavy rainfall will also lead to rough seas and difficulty in moving around.

“Heads of Schools are expected to keep in contact with the District and Divisional Education Offices.”
