The Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry, Charan Jeath Singh, has announced immediate relief measures for sugarcane farmers impacted by the recent fire at the Rarawai Mill in Ba.

Speaking at the launch of the Loyalty Agreement Signup between the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF) and Pacific Energy in Ba, Minister Singh praised the SCGF for its swift action in supporting affected growers.

“From Monday, 22nd September 2025 until the end of the crushing season, SCGF will waive all loan application and documentation fees for Western Division growers applying for loans related to cane harvesting expenses,” he said.

“This is the kind of timely support our farmers need.”

The relief measures are aimed at easing the financial burden on farmers as they continue harvesting operations despite the disruption caused by the fire.

Minister Singh reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that affected growers receive the support necessary to maintain productivity and protect livelihoods.
