Former Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says he remains resolute in the face of what he describes as injustice, saying his values, principles and faith continue to guide him.

In an interview with New Zealand based Radio Tarana, Sayed-Khaiyum said a person must never surrender their dignity or compromise their beliefs.

“You never bow down in the face of injustice. You never bow down to oppression, and you never lower your dignity, but you must always maintain and speak the truth,” he said.

He said the challenges he is currently facing have only strengthened his resolve.

“You must never compromise on your values and principles. Now, more than ever before, I am affirmed in my values and principles, and I believe that ultimately the truth will always prevail, irrespective of any injustice that may take place — false charges, political charges, or name-calling on social media,” he said.

Sayed-Khaiyum said his strength comes from his faith and family, which he described as deeply personal sources of resilience.

“I believe we are created by God, and ultimately every human being on this planet will die. People are born every day and people die every day,” he said.

He added that material things are temporary, but one’s faith and actions endure.

“You don’t take anything with you. The only things that remain are your faith and the good deeds you leave behind — deeds that continue to benefit others even after you are gone,” he said.
