Savusavu bus routes open and accessible

All bus routes for Savusavu area are now open and accessible.

Fiji Roads Authority chief executive Sonal Goundar said work has progressed in various affected roads in Vanua Levu.

“We have some pending work on Seaqaqa, Vudibasoga, Navidamu and Dreketi Areas including hill sections on Lutukina Rd and Nasigasiga Nabiti Rd in Dreketi,” he said.

“We have completed reinstatement works on Kadavu Niurua Culvert in Naduri Seva Road which is now accessible including Tabia Naduri Road.

“For Nabouwalu and Bua Area, the main supply route from Labasa, Nabouwalu to Daria is accessible but we have restricted movement at Nakabuta Settlement in Wainunu due to the active landslide site.”

While the team continues to work along Kubulau Road (Bua) from Dawara (Cakaudrove) towards Cogea, Mr Goundar said they would attend to the side roads in Bua once the weather clears up from Nasarawaqa to Navakasali.

“Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and be mindful that the condition of the road is still impacted, especially in those flood-prone areas, hill sections, and around our unsealed network.”

The following are updates from FRA:

  • Wailevu West Coast Road towards Kubulau while we have limited access between Kubulau and Batinivuriwai due to the active landslide at Kubulau Road, Nakabuta Settlement, Wainunu in Bua.
  • Bucabay Road towards Nakobo, Dakuniba, Napuka, Drekeniwai, and Wailevu is accessible.
  • Also through Natewa West Coast Road towards Saqani, Wainigadru, Wainikoro, and back to Labasa.

Labasa Area

  • all side roads and bus routes within the urban areas are accessible apart from Qelemumu and Wairiki Crossing in Suweni which is still underwater.
  • FRA will move into other side roads this week including Visoqo Lakeba, Lagi Nukusere, Qaranivai Duavata, Tawake, Saqani Area in Lakeba, Vuniwai and Natuvu.
  • Reinstatement works completed on Tabia Culvert at Nayarabale Road, Nayagalevu Crossing in Sevaci Road including a few sites along Wainikoro Road from Coqeloa, Lagalaga and Nubu.
