Savenaca earns dream call

It has been a big motivation for 18-year-old Suliano Savenaca to train alongside some of Fiji’s top seven’s players.

The Cakaudrove native, who has maternal links to Yaqeta, Yasawa, is one of two members from the Ratu Kadavulevu School under-18 team selected to join the Fiji 7s development squad.

For Savenaca, the opportunity to train with the best in the game is a dream come true.

“I’m thankful for this opportunity. Most of these players I only see them om TV, but to be training with them is like a dream come true,” said Savenaca.

“I thank the coaches for giving me this opportunity, and I hope one day I get to represent the country.”

“Just being alongside the players, I look up to is a blessing, it doesn’t stop here i still got a long way to go, I need to stay focused and aim for my goals.”

Despite the tough training sessions, he is grateful to the team for keeping him motivated and helping him learn new things.

The training has been really tough, but I like to thank the team for keeping us motivated and helping us with the training and things new we want to learn.

Savenaca is excited to be part of the team traveling to Korea for the upcoming sevens tournament and sees it as a significant opportunity in his career.

He credits God for giving him this chance and encourages other young people to listen to their parents, stay disciplined, and work towards their goals.

“My message to the youths like me, is to listen to your parents you will come a long way and also stay discipline and work towards your goal.”

Meanwhile, the final squad for the Dubai 7s will be announced today, with the team set to depart on Sunday.
