Hurricanes skipper Ardie Savea is proud of how far teammate, Isaia Walker- Leawere has come.
Walker-Leawere, who joined the Wellington-based side in 2018, will play his 50th game against the Drua this afternoon and Savea commended the resilience of the “quiet boy from Gisborne”.
“It’s crazy to see his growth as a player and the man he is becoming,” said Savea.
“I was there when he first played his game and to see him play his 50th is pretty special to see. He came over as a young, quiet boy from Gisborne, just sat at the back who didn’t really say much. Now he’s a leader in the team and he drives a lot of our game and lineouts. It’s nice to see our Pacific brother stand up and lead an important area in our team.”
