Former Fiji Secondary Schools girls sprint champion Fane Sauvakacolo is on a roll after she broke two Dakota State University’s (DSU) women’s track and field records in a span of 10 days.

Earlier last week, Sauvakacolo broke the DSU women’s outdoor track and field record in the triple jump, leaping a season-best of 11.22 meters to claim the title.

It was reported that DSU took its running squad along with a few field athletes to the abbreviated NCAA Division 1 meet- the South Dakota Challenge in Vermillion, South Dakota.

The former Suva Grammar School student broke her previous record of 11.18m set in 2022 during the event.

On Wednesday this week, while competing in the NCAA Division II outdoor track and field meet — the Minnesota State — Mankato Maverick Open #1, Sauvakacolo established a school record in the 100m hurdles for the Trojans.

She clocked a time of 14.65 in the prelims round, breaking the previous school record held by Bobbi Jo Dykstra with a time of 14.68 seconds in 2007.

Sauvakacolo advanced to the finals, where she was placed seventh in 15.62 seconds.

In February this year, she also set a new Women’s Indoor Triple jump record for DSU at the Alumni Invitational in Mitchell, SD with a jump of 11.35 meters.
