Sanjay Kirpal has officially left the Opposition bench to become an Independent Member of Parliament.
The announcement was made in Parliament this morning by the Speaker Filimone Jitoko, confirming Mr Kirpal’s decision to step away from the Opposition caucus.
His departure reduces the number of Opposition Members aligned under Opposition Leader Inia Seruiratu from 14 to 13.
No reason was given in Parliament for Mr Kirpal’s decision.
Mr Kirpal was elected into Parliament under the former Fiji First party.
