The Then India Sanmarga Ikya Sangam (TISI Sangam) has taken steps to reinforce governance at the Sangam College of Nursing, rejecting the resignations of two senior officials and ordering a structural review of the institution.
In a press release issued yesterday, Sangam Fiji President Parveen Bala said the Council of Management decided that the resignations of Chairman Amraiya Naidu and Deputy Chairman Dr Neelesh Gounder were not accepted following deliberations focused on institutional stability.
“The Council resolved that the resignations tendered by Mr Amraiya Naidu and Dr Neelesh Gounder are not accepted,” said Bala.
The Council said both officials will remain in their roles in line with the organisation’s governance framework, signalling a move to maintain continuity in leadership.
As part of broader governance measures, TISI Sangam also announced that an independent consultant will be appointed to review the governance structure of the Sangam College of Nursing.
The review follows concerns raised about interference from the Sangam Institute of Technology Board.
In addition, the Council approved a 5 percent across-the-board salary increase for all staff, backdated to January 1, 2026, while noting that any increase beyond this threshold will require further negotiation between the National Executive Board and the College’s Academic Board.
“The Council of Management resolved and endorsed a 5% across the board salary increase.”
The Council reaffirmed its confidence in current leadership, stressing its commitment to “stability, continuity and good governance” within the institution.
