Ticket sales for Fiji’s Rugby Nations Championship have exceeded initial expectations, with 80% of tickets for the home match against England already sold.
This was confirmed by Fiji Rugby Union chairman John Sanday on Thursday during the soft launch of the Viti Levu and Vanua Levu eliminations at the Wesley Church Hall in Suva.
“The ticket sales for our games have been progressing well, particularly for the England match, where we have now sold over 80% of the stadium capacity. Our profit and loss projections were based on 70%,” he explained.
“It’s now beyond 80%, and we expect to reach full capacity before game day.”
Sanday is confident that the Scotland match will also meet their expectations, as match-day ticket sales are also strong.
“Our game against Scotland is currently at 50% sold, and we are on track to attract a good crowd there,” Sanday added.
Meanwhile, ticket sales for the Flying Fijians’ opening match against Wales have yet to gain momentum. However, experts anticipate a surge in sales closer to match day.
“At our last briefing in Wales, the Welsh people said they are much like Fijians in that they tend to wait four or five days before the match to purchase their tickets,” Sanday said.
The Flying Fijians will face Wales on July 4 at 2:10 pm at Cardiff City Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, in their opening match of the Rugby Nations Championship.
