Sanday in top form in Australia

FIJIAN tighthead prop Kirwan Sanday is making a name for himself in Australia.

The former Fiji under-20 player was named the Musashi High Performer for Round II in the BLK Queensland Premier Rugby competition over the weekend.

He featured strongly for his Easts Tigers which defeated Samu Kerevi and Chris Kuridrani’s GPS side 20-18 in a tightly fought match on Saturday.

Both Kuridrani and Kerevi did not play in GPS’s loss to Easts. Kuridrani played on the wing for the Reds that were thrashed by the Brumbies 29-0 at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane on Saturday night while inside-centre, Kerevi is out injured with a pulled hamstring muscle.

Sanday was judged by the match officials for making the biggest individual impact to the game.

Also featuring in the match was former Nadroga U20 flanker Jonasa Dulo, playing at stand-in lock.

Dulo, son of former heavyweight boxer Mosese Kavika, was Nadroga’s U20s Player of the Year in 2013.

Other Fijians who featured in round two of Queensland premier grade competition include winger Veresa Vuki scoring the only try for his North side that went down 24-7 to reigning champions Queensland University and South’s flyhalf, Teti Tela, who converted a try in his side’s 19-17 loss to Bond University.
