Samuel Yalimaiwai set a new national record for Fiji in the 50-metre breaststroke at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore today.

He clocked a time of 28.54 seconds, beating the previous record of 28.80 held by Taichi Vakasama since 2022.

Yalimaiwai was part of a strong four-member Fiji Aquatics team at the event.

This is Yalimaiwai’s first time competing at the World Aquatics Championships, and a proud moment for the young swimmer.

Other swimmers like Tolu Young, this is his third world championship.

The team also includes Olympian Anahira McCutcheon, making her debut, and Marseleima Moss, who returns for her second time.

Meanwhile, the championships will end this Sunday.
