DIGICEL Fiji Futsal head coach Jerry Sam has named a 19-member squad for the Digicel National Futsal team for the OFC Futsal Nations Cup in Auckland, New Zealand.
Sam said they had a successful trial over the weekend.
“We had 25 players during the trials last weekend, which was very successful, but unfortunately, we can only take 14 players for the championship,” said Sam.
“We will have our training sessions this week with these 19 players, and it will be trimmed to 14 at the end of the week before coming into camp on September 12.”
Sam confirmed that two overseas players have shown interest in joining the team.
“We are happy that Shahil Dave will be joining us in camp from New Zealand while Kunal Nand from Wellington has shown his interest and will join the team in training this week before the final
squad is named.
“Our first training will start this evening from 7pm to 9pm at Fiji FA Futsal Court in Vatuwaqa.”
Fiji is drawn in Group A with New Zealand, Vanuatu and Tonga. They play their opening match against Tonga on October 1.
