Fiji Beach Soccer national coach Jerry Sam will be finalising his squad to compete at the Oceania Football Confederation Beach Soccer Nations Cup in Tahiti today.

Sam was present during the Digicel Fiji Football Association Beach Soccer Competition in Suva yesterday and was pleased with the performances of players from various teams.

“I have already identified a few names for the team to the OFC Beach Soccer Nations Cup, and will be finalising the team tomorrow (today),” he said.

“I was impressed with the performance of the players and could see a handful of very talented players for this spot.”

With the tournament being held on August 26, Sam said they would need to quickly prepare themselves as they had less than a month before competing.

“We have very little time to prepare, so after the names are confirmed, the team will be marching into camp on Wednesday.”

Heading into the tournament as underdogs, Sam believes team Fiji will still be able to perform against giant teams in the tournament.

“Just from looking at the way some of these players played during the competition here in Suva, I believe we have a good chance at the tournament in Tahiti.”
