NADROGA Netball Association president Judy Kumar says the successful turnout at the 2026 Ecotrax Nadroga Netball Association knockout competition at Lawaqa Park reflects the steady growth of netball in the province.
Kumar said the association was proud to see 15 clubs and 55 teams take part across all grades, making it one of the biggest openings to a Nadroga netball season in recent years.
He acknowledged the hard work of clubs, players, coaches, parents and supporters who turned up in numbers to make the opening tournament a success.
Kumar also thanked sponsors Ecotrax and Salad Bowl Travel Tours for their continued support towards the development of netball in Nadroga.
“The atmosphere throughout the day was amazing and it shows how much netball is growing in Nadroga.
“We are especially happy to see the younger grades increasing because they are the future of our association. The support from families and communities was outstanding and we thank everyone who contributed in one way or another,” Kumar said.
Kumar said the competition was not only about winning trophies but also about building discipline, teamwork and unity among players from different communities around Nadroga and Navosa.
The tournament produced exciting finals across all grades with the Salad Bowl Jelly Beans winning the U12 title, Salad Bowl Swifts claiming the U15 crown and Super 7 edging Salad Bowl Blaze 8-7 in a thrilling U18 final.
In the Open Women’s grade, Coastal Magic Giants defeated Salad Bowl Flames 17-14 after trailing at halftime, while Salad Bowl Warriors edged Salad Bowl Rockets 17-16 in the men’s final.
The association now looks forward to Round One club games next weekend as teams continue preparations for what promises to be a competitive 2026 season.
