SAFETY is number one priority for one of the largest liquid petroleum gas companies in the Pacific after recently completing its operational audit for this year.

Fiji Gas national operations manager Max Olsson said the audit took two weeks to complete and was carried out in all five of their liquid petroleum gas terminals.

“This audit is done annually to make sure that Fiji Gas is in compliance with the highest statutory and company safety standards,” he said in a statement.

“Two audit engineers were flown in from Australia to carry out this independent audit. There are no statutory safety standards in Fiji. So as part of their audit they will ensure that Fiji Gas complies with Australian Safety Standards.”

He said the company carried out safety checks across their terminals and trucks on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis.
