Lanky Joseva Talacolo says sacrifices made to recover in time for the Rugby World Cup Sevens was worth it.

The policeman could not make the Fiji squad for the Commonwealth Games because of injury, however, he made a return at the Los Angeles 7s and weeks later went to win Melrose Cup for Fiji.

“I have written my name in the history books as one of the sevens world cup winners,” Talacolo said.

“I thank God for his plans towards me as I managed to recover from my injuries to make the world cup squad.

“Winning the Melrose Cup is a big achievement and I sacrificed a lot to bring glory to my family and the nation.”

National sevens coach Ben Gollings says Talacolo brings in the X-factor to the team.

“He is a very capable player as a forward and as back. He is incredibly tall, has a foot walk like a winger and is a potent weapon to have in the team.

“It was very frustrating we lost him due to sickness for the Commonwealth Games but once he was fit, we knew what he was capable of showcasing,” said the former England 7s skipper.
