Whether you play rugby, netball, football, hockey, or simply want to improve your overall fitness, running is one of the best ways to build endurance, strength, and cardiovascular health.

It’s also a great way to meet new people and stay active. So if you are looking for a running buddy but not sure where to begin?

Suva has a growing running community with several free weekly sessions open to everyone, regardless of your fitness level.

Alongside the Suva Marathon Club’s monthly Social Runs, runners can join “Johnny’s Suva Run Squad” a group, which started in 2025 after some of the runners wanted a regular weekly meet-up.

They meet on Tuesday at 6:00 am at the Suva Bowling Club for 6 km along the seawall. With different paces, runners naturally split into groups, making it welcoming for everyone.

If you’re looking to improve your speed, Coach Ed’s Thursday Session starts promptly at 6:15 am (not Fiji time!) at the Suva Stadium and offers structured interval training suitable for runners wanting to challenge themselves.

For those chasing longer distances, the Suva Running Club, established in September 2023, meets every Sunday at 6:00 am sharp at the Albert Park Pavilion.

Distances range from 10 km to 21 km, with occasional adventures through Colo-i-Suva. It’s the perfect group for anyone training for a half marathon or simply wanting to enjoy good company over the longer kilometres.

The group’s motto is to run at the pace of the slowest person.

Lace up your shoes and come join us, there is a place for every runner in Suva!

And if you happen to know more running groups in Fiji, regardless where, let us know at bula@suvamarthon.org and we will share with all the other runners.
