Participants gathered to mark International Mother Language Day with a unity run organised by the High Commission of India, Suva, celebrating linguistic diversity and cultural heritage.

Indian high commissioner Suneet Mehta said mother languages carry “memories, values and traditions”, highlighting their role in shaping identity.

Assistant Minister for Health Penioni Koliniwai Ravunawa stressed that communication in one’s own language builds trust and strengthens communities.

The event brought together 49 participants in a show of unity, reflecting the multicultural fabric of Fiji.
