IT has been a humble yet inspiring journey for 25-year-old Isaia Rugu from Nadrala, Nadroga, as he embraces a new chapter in his rugby career with the prestigious Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s extended squad.
Recently, Rugu was a key member of the Fiji 7s development squad that travelled to South Korea with a mission to elevate Fiji Rugby’s next generation through a growing partnership with Korea Rugby.
As the team shifts its focus to the upcoming Singapore 7s, Rugu eagerly returns to the squad with hopes of securing a spot in the final line-up.
“It has been a long journey, I like to thank God for taking me this far and giving me the strength every time for training,” said Rugu.
“Back in the squad, training has been really tough, it’s all about working hard for your goal, and that is what I’m doing –to work hard and earn a spot in the team.”
He expressed his appreciation to coach Osea Kolinisau’s guidance and thanked his family for their unwavering support throughout his rugby journey.
