In a landmark move set to revolutionize Fijian rugby, the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) is harnessing the power of data analysis as a key tool to determine match venues and enhance games management strategies.
This groundbreaking initiative was unveiled by FRU Executive Chairman John Sanday following a productive series of meetings in Europe.
The introduction of data analytics will provide the FRU with detailed insights into the concentration of Flying Fijians fans in Europe and around the world.
These fans are not limited to locals living abroad but include die-hard followers of the national team who are eager to support the boys wherever they play.
During their time in Europe and the United Kingdom, the FRU delegation is also conducting a feasibility study on the rugby landscape of the northern hemisphere.
This study aims to establish a commercial strategy that will generate substantial returns on investment from the Flying Fijians’ Europe tours.
With the Autumn Nations currently underway, the completion of the report is expected in the coming weeks.
This scientific approach will enable the FRU to strategize future Europe tours with a clear expectation of return on investment.
Sanday hopes to bring this innovative approach back home and adapt it for use by local unions.
The goal is to adopt a more commercial and scientific approach to organizing home games.
This initiative will be presented at the upcoming General Assembly of the FRU on December 6th.
It aims to create a more commercially focused Skipper Up and Marama competition, maximizing match-day financial returns and enhancing the fan experience for each union.
With this groundbreaking initiative, a bright and exciting future awaits Fiji’s rugby landscape.
