Rugby legend helps Yasawa prepare

YASAWA is ready to give Ra a good run for its money in the Vodafone Vanua Challenge scheduled at Nadovu Park tomorrow.

Laced with unknown players from the Yasawa Group, the side is targeting its first win after its narrow 12-7 loss to Tavua in the opening round of games.

Head coach and former Fijian rugby dual international, Kaiava Salusalu is helping the islanders.

He said the team had prepared well for the game and the players had been urged to lift their performance.

He said the side only prepared for four days against Tavua but it would be a different ball game altogether against Ra.

“The boys have prepared well and we will give Ra a good game,” said Salusalu.

“We have been working on our combination and we are confident of a good outing.”

Salusalu said majority of the players formerly featured in the Deans trophy school rugby competition.

“There are no big names in the side but full of young and talented players that once played in the Deans competition.

“We have some former students of QVS, RKS, Natabua, Ratu Navula and Lelean in the team. They have jelled well with the rest of the boys and I am expecting a good display from this bunch of young boys.

“We also have players from the islands here with us and all are raring to go.”

The former Fiji centre called on the people of Yasawa in Lautoka to turn out in numbers and support the team.

The game kicks off at 3pm.
