High schoolteacher Sainimere Balenacagi says forming a Latter-Day Saints Church College women’s team to take part in the Ranadi championship will be a challenge.

Balenacagi was part of the first women’s match officials level course at Delainamasi Primary School in Nasinu.

It was the first time to conduct a World Rugby match officiating course focused on women.

Balenacagi hopes the clinic will attract more women officials.

Attending the clinic, she said it would boost setting up the first LDS College women’s team.

“I was told by one of the coaches in school to come and attend the course,” she said.

“It will help in improving our school teams’ performance since the Deans and the Ranadi championship are just around the corner.

“To help our teams, teachers need to be equipped with the rules and regulations of the sport.

“We hoping to have a women’s team and to have that we will need the right mentality, the right attitude and right goal to set the standard for our players in school.”

She said with the growing number of interested women in rugby, forming a team to take part in the Ranadi championship would be a challenge.
