“If even one player comes out of this clinic believing more strongly in themselves, then today it is a success,” said David Chan, CEO of Capital Insurance when opening the Capital Insurance Rugby Clinic and Games at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on Saturday.

The event was delivered in partnership with the legendary Waisale Serevi and his Serevi International Rugby Academy alongside powerhouse Nemani Nadolo.

The event was held in support for grassroots rugby and promoting healthy living.

It was also an initiative in the ongoing fight against drugs.

Five Capital Insurance- sponsored clubs, Namukailau, Nuku, Vuniqele, Dreketi, and Newtown, along with the Fiji Sports Council grassroots team took part in the rugby 10-a-side tournament, under the coaching guidance and mentorship of Serevi and Nadolo.

Chan stressed the value of sports as a life changing mechanism that’s best applied at the heart of our communities.

“Rugby is more than a sport to us. It’s a pathway to confidence, discipline, teamwork, and strong values. When young people succeed, our communities succeed,” he said.

He thanked the team, volunteers and all other stakeholders for making the event possible.

Serevi says his partnership with Capital insurance has given him a platform to help empower young people through sports.

Nadolo added the initiative was great way for organisation to give back to the country and hopes more business will follow suit.

“This initiative grows the sport at grassroots while promoting healthy living and fighting drugs.”
