The Vodafone Flying Fijians would be boosted with the availability of star halfback Frank Lomani for the Test against Wales this weekend.
Lomani joined the side and featured during its training sessions at the Wales Institute of Sport grounds yesterday.
He is highly likely to get the nod ahead of Nikola Matawalu in the run-on team.
Matawalu featured against Spain last weekend.
Flying Fijians Autumn Tour interim coach and Welshman Gareth Baber is excited with the news of Lomani’s arrival.
“Good to have Frankie,” he said from Cardiff during a press conference on Zoom on Tuesday.
“He will take part in the training. We’re required to make the selections based on what we’ve seen.
“He is experienced and living in UK, he has a good understanding of the rugby here.”
Baber knows Wales, which was wounded from the loss to the Springboks and coached by former Fiji coach Wayne Pivac, will be breathing fire on the Fijians.
“Wales will be physical at the Principality Stadium and they’ll try to play a quick game, so we’re working on things to counter that.”
Lomani featured in the two-Test series against the All Blacks in June.
He signed a contract with Northampton Saints for the commencement of a new Gallagher Premiership season in August.
He made the switch to the Northern Hemisphere from Australian Super Rugby franchise Melbourne Rebels.
He missed the opening Test match against Spain last week which the Flying Fijians won 43-13.
Meanwhile, Baber is expected to make some positional changes against Wales because of injuries.
Fiji first played Wales on November 9, 1985, at Cardiff Arms Park and lost 3-40.
Wales had defeated Fiji 29-17 during a pool clash at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in their most recent encounter.
Both have played each other on 12 different occasions with Wales winning 10.
Fiji recorded a historic 38-34 win during the 2007 RWC in France for it’s only win.
The two sides drew 16-16 also during the 2010 autumn internationals.
Wales is ranked ninth, and two spots ahead of Fiji.
