TODAY, the clock ticks to less than 24 hours before the Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s kicks off at Prince Charles Park in Nadi and it will be a busy afternoon of engagements for all teams before it starts tomorrow.

At 2pm, the captains of all participating teams will convene at Nalagi Hotel where they will front their best smiles and poses for the captain’s photoshoot, with a strict emphasis applied to dress code for the event as all captains are expected to wear their team jerseys, shorts and socks with canvas.

This will see the captains of 56 men’s teams, 36 captains in the 18-under-21 competition and 12 captains from the women’s competition, which means a total of 104 captains from all teams will be present there.

Meanwhile, at 5pm, coaches and managers will meet at the Legends Sports Bar in Nadi for the coaches and managers briefing where they will be briefed on the tournament’s by-laws with an urge for the officials to drive with emphasis to their players on how important abiding to them would mean.

This year’s tournament is anticipated to be a larger spectacle than last year, as competition in all categories is expected to be harder than previous legs of the 2025/26 season.

Since the series began on Ovalau last November with the Yalovata 7s, many teams have proven how much they are willing to put on the line and do on the field to clinch the coveted trophies and walk away with the winning prize money.

The Nawaka 7s will end on Saturday.
