Fijian football star Roy Krishna has signed with Bula Football Club as a marquee player.

Bula FC interim chief executive officer Anushil Kumar confirmed the signing to Times Sport yesterday, saying Krishna’s arrival would significantly strengthen the squad.

“Krishna’s inclusion in the squad will boost the team in many ways,” Kumar said.

He added that Krishna’s leadership qualities and experience would make him a strong role model, inspiring younger players within the team.

“His (Krishna’s) inclusion will also assist us in meeting our commercial obligations. He is already a brand name,” Kumar added.

Krishna returned to Fiji earlier this month after completing his stint with Malappuram in the Kerala Super League in India.

A marquee player is a highly popular, skilled, superstar athlete in professional sports whose presence draws large crowds and boosts team/league profile, often with special salary cap.

Bula FC will open their OFC Professional League campaign against Vanuatu United on January 17 in New Zealand.
