Ana Maria Roqica places her trust in the Seahawks rugbys’ new and young players, anticipating their ability to rise to the challenge in this week’s Fiji Bitter Lomaiviti 7s.
With the departure of many senior players to the national squad, the team has strategically brought in fresh, talented faces, who are determined to showcase their skills not only in this week’s competition but also in the upcoming McDonald’s Fiji’s Coral Coast 7s.
As the former Fijiana captain and current Seahawks trainer, Ana Maria Roqica embraces her new role with enthusiasm, viewing it as an opportunity to contribute to rugby and share her wealth of knowledge.
Despite retiring as a player, Roqica remains committed to her role as a trainer and coach, recognizing the significant responsibility she holds in nurturing the development of the young talents, now part of the club.
“Retiring from rugby as a player does not stop me from pursue my role as a trainer or coach, I know I have a big role to play in developing these young girls that have joined the club.
“I can see motivated young and new players who are eager to establish their names in the national squad and even securing overseas contract,” Roqica said.
Discussing the team’s preparation for the Lomaiviti and Coral Coast tournaments, Roqica commended the dedication and sacrifices made by the girls.
“Most of us sacrifice our festive season just to keep our body in top shape for Lomaiviti, the girls put in a lot of effort, and I thank them and the management for the dedication.”
