THE Seahawks women’s team led by their inspirational skipper Ana Maria Roqica put on a gallant performance to retain their title in the 37th Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s tournament which concluded yesterday at the Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

The Suva-based side defeated Ezers women’s team by 26-12 in the cup final.

“I am very proud of what all the girls managed to achieve,” said Roqica.

“We did not had much time to train together but the girls did well considering some of the our squad members are not that experienced.” Roqica said some of these girls have the dream of wearing the white jersey one day.

“It has been an honour to play along[1]side them and although it was a challenge to play in soggy field conditions, we managed to achieve our goal.

Some of our players are injured but we got through.”

Seahawks walked away with $2000 as their prize money.
