NEXT Wednesday, 128 captains of participating teams at the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s will participate in a tree-planting exercise at the Damodar Arts Village in Pacific Harbour.

This was announced by the chief executive officer of the Damodar Group of Companies, Div Damodar yesterday.

Damodar made the announcement with Fiji Bitter Marist 7s organising committee member Lawrence Tikaram, Damodar Arts Village marketing executive Tuula Aitcheson Mallam and Fiji Bitter brand manager Maxine Edwards at the Paradise Beverages Fiji Limited office in Walu Bay, Suva yesterday.

“This is to enhance the awareness of our environment and also acknowledging the 50 years of the most successful tournament Fiji has ever seen, the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s,” Damodar said.

His drive for the initiative is also fueled by his father being a Marist Old Boy and in his school days at Flagstaff, belonged to the house of Claudius.

“The Marist firepower is very strong in the Damodar family and we continue with that spirit of the Marist brotherhood,” he added.

He expressed his hopes of seeing the tournament continue to be the place where national teams were once formed.

Meanwhile, Edwards stated Fiji Bitter was proud to associate itself with a club that shared its values of nurturing grassroots talent, supporting communities through sport and environment sustainability.

“This is a powerful way to honour their journey while investing in the future, planting roots that will grow for generations to come, just like the legacy of the partnerships we’ve built,” Edwards mentioned.

The Marist 7s will be held from March 26-29 in Suva.
