THE return of Marika Rodu to the Rewa team as coach has made an impact in the second round of the Vodafone Premier League beating Nasinu 4-3 at the Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

Rodu makes a comeback to his former club after two years and his main priority is to lift the performance as a team.

“We have plenty work to do,” he said.

“I’ve been away for two years and for two years this team has dropped its guard, so I’m still preparing the team.

“My first priority is to implement some performance stabilising structures starting from training and we’ve transferred some of the things in the last two games.”

Rewa has some of the best football players in the country, however Rodu believes they’re not mixing well in terms of combinations and understanding each other.

“I see that we have the potential and the experience by looking at the names of the players in the team, but we still lack the ability to win games.

“The way I see it, we don’t have the abilities to win games yet or to win a tournament this year and it’s a matter of working up the ladder.

“Rewa finished seventh in the league last year and our win today (yesterday) does not define anything and were just lucky to come through with a win.”

“In terms of performance, we had seventy per cent positive things and seventy per cent negative things.”

Meanwhile Rewa recorded one loss against Ba in the first round going down 1-0 and a win against Nasinu yesterday 4-3 in the second round.

It plays Nadi next weekend at the Prince Charles Park.
